PROFESSIONAL PROJECTS:

  • Database Project: Plan, designed and implemented an Access database with a Visual Basic interface for a realty company. The database contained an OLE field that linked the database to a 3D floor plan program. The purpose of the design is to save realtor company time and money. The time savings comes from clients that are interested in a particular house by its attributes but not by its floor plan. The money savings comes from the wasted time a realtor spends showing a house that hasn't a chance with the client.

  • Senior Project: Plan, design and implement a data warehouse that uses the internet to gather demographic information about a particular customer. Information is also gathered through data mining of an existing datamart.

  • Management Information Systems: Plan, design, and implement a presentation about the Chicago Board of Trade. Because the class had all information science majors, I knew everyone was going to use PowerPoint. I told my group that I wanted to do something different, maybe use my video camera. We decided to tape ourselves giving a news broadcast about CBOT. We broadcasted from a booth and then cut the camera "live" to people in the field. We compared the old "open outcry" method (done in black and white) to the new electronic (done in color) method. The professor like the presentation so well, she asked for a copy of the tape.
